ABOUT MADISON

Madison, Indiana is a historic town located on the banks of the Ohio River, approximately halfway between Louisville and Cincinnati.  Founded in 1810 due to heavy river traffic, for many years Madison was a boom town, with iron works, meat packing, brick making and more.  Madison was also a convenient stop on the Underground Railroad, and many fleeing slaves passed through on their way north.

Jump to the modern era and the town has been designated as a Stellar Community and voted the best small town town in the Midwest by USA Today readers. There's plenty to do in terms of hiking, cycling, shopping, eating & boating.  Madison has 2 local wineries, a brewery, and is becoming Indiana's Music City.  Clifty Falls State Park is located here, with beautiful scenery and trails ranging from easy to difficult. And don't forget all the festivals, including the Chatauqua Art Festival, chili cook offs, barbecue contests and powerboat racing in the annual Madison Regatta and vintage powerboats. Any way you cut it, Madison is a great place to live and a fun place to visit.  If you live here, congratulations! And if not, we welcome you to visit and experience some of our great Hoosier Hospitality.
